Summer Plans ^^

Summer, for me, will be a time of relaxation, art practice - going into AP Art, which will have a summer assignment, and getting ready to be a senior. Junior year is full of stress, then add on the family life and presto, you're a wreck. Using the summer as a good way to de-stress and spend a few weeks just not worrying about anything will definitely help me. They say that the sun is good for you too - makes you less depressed - I just wish I didn't tan so easily. -_-" (I don't look good with a tan.) I also need to start making an art portfolio; when you want to go to an art college, you need one of those. But I've had no real time to draw; a few sketches here and there will not cut it. I really need to take some time and just draw, develop some detailed pictures and go through with them (more work than it sounds). Writing too, I think I'll do over the summer. Although that will be difficult since my laptop broke (again), and my grandmother is irritatingly nosy. T_T *Sigh* and I have to prepare myself for all the college stuff that's going to be forced down my throat this year. My main concern is the money; if I can't pay for it, I'm probably not going to college - no matter how much they protest, and I think my mother agrees with me. I want to go to an art college - I honestly don't want to major in any other field. Sounds childish? Yes, but I have my reasons. Well, that's about it for my summer. Aside from summer homework which (besides the art one) I really hope that I don't have, it looks very relaxing so far. Have a good summer everybody! :)

HSPA Testing

First day of HSPA testing - math section. It wasn't as difficult as I thought it would be, but, since I have trouble organizing my time, I did not finish most of the open-ended (all but 1 to be precise). I hope I do better with my time on the language arts section, than I did with the math... although it takes me forever to finish an essay. :/

I'm glad that Most of my teachers for the rest of the day didn't really give us anything to do.

Hope I pass; do not want to re-take next year, and get kept form graduating.

Midterms -_-

I'm not entirely sure which I dislike more, finals or midterms... Finals sort of just ruin the 'end of the year bliss' for me, but midterms not only come in the stressful middle of the year, but also do not allow you to be exempt as finals do...

I do not dislike midterms simply because I do not like school. (I'm indifferent to school depending on class, teachers, peers, stress, etc...) I dislike them because they are annoying, as I have many more things to be worrying about all year (especially this year - Junior Year - one of the most important years) than trying to re-cram, previous information back into my mind for one test that usually doesn't even need all of that information.

Isn't it rewarding enough for the educational system when I'm reading a book and spot a word like 'aplomb' and exclaim, "Hey, that was one of my vocabulary words! I know what it means."

Sigh, but of course not. All the state cares about are test scores; never mind the bad test takers, the people under stress who don't really need any more tests than necessary, and the teachers who also have to make time to grade hundreds of students' midterms.

It's just sad and annoying to me. I never had midterms or finals at my old school, and I came out just fine.

Mideterms... would rather not have them, honestly.

Happy New Year~ :)

I hope everyone had a Happy New Year. I also hope that everyone is making resolutions.

I have;
1. More healthy eating. Not so much as a diet (even if I Should be on one) but more of just small changes for my health benefit.
2. Save my money for AnimeNEXT convention, which is June 8 - 10 this year. I will be (hopefully) cosplaying as Matt from Death Note. (I went last year too, it's fun, and I recomend going... even if you do end up spending a ton of money.) So between either making or buying my costume, And having money to spend their in Artist's Alley or The Dealer's Room, is going to cost me, so I must start saving soon.
3. I would really like a job too. Something close by, where I can work a few hours a day and most likely weekends. It would help a lot with resolution #2 as well.
4. Practice my art... I need to start making a portfolio.

What are your resolutions? =)

Holiday Break

What are your plans?

A nice relaxing, long holiday vacation is in my future. Also, practicing for my driving test which is in early January. (I am so out of practice.)

Getting people gifts before Christmas is another task I must accomplish, but Before break. Grr, I wish someone would hire me already. No work for the poor artist I'm afraid. :(

On the bright side, I finally bought the Japanese PS2 game that I wanted "Yu Yu Hakusho Forever" (Youtube search the game, it looks great - like a combo of 'Mortal Combat and Street Fighter' as my sister said.)

However, because games are region coded - they cane only be played on systems made in that part of the world - (Though I heard that they've changed that between the US and Japan for the newer PS3 and its games) I had to buy a used PS2 on ebay, next I'll buy a mod chip and have my friend (who is an expert) install it. A mod chip will enable the system to play games from other regions, play home-made games, or back up files. - Tricky to instal, but very useful.
I hope to be playing it by spring. ^^

Wish me luck, and have a Happy Holiday! =)

Welcome

Hello, and welcome to my blog.  :)

My blog will center around different topics of art; not just the classic sketching and painting, but also things like writing stories, drawing manga/comics, cosplaying, comparing and contrasting the styles of animation (and graphics), and storylines used in cartoons/anime, comics/mangas, and videogames.

Of course, there will also be side tips about little things that relate to the topic, but are not necessarily art-related. Example: Different ways to get around the region coding of the ps1 and ps2.

Should be interesting, no? Enjoy~ ^^
